Life Happened…
A man was sitting on a bench in a park. As he closed his
reddened eyes, devoid of sleep, he opened them immediately. For, as he closed
them, he would see their faces. The people who were his family, the people who
wanted to kill each other, just for the sake of some money.
Now, he had heard people say it, he had read it in the
books, he didn't know that it could happen to him. He didn't know that when it
would happen, it would feel so bad, that nothing would compare to its agony.
His uncle, who had seen him grow up, who had taken care of him over the years,
who had promised to be his support in his times of need, he was the one who was
against him now.
Now, this man didn't care for his money, he was just
fighting, to prove to his uncle one thing…that whatever happens, he shall stand
by his parents' side in the time of need. His uncle hadn't been lesser parent to him, but, his parents, were
his parents. How could someone think, that the place, where they lived, the man
whom they adored, his death, would become the cause of their enmity.
Brothers fighting against each other for the home in which
they had lived together for years, where they had shared the same food, where
they had shared the same bed, where they had lived with their parents for
years. Countless memories were reduced to mere inconveniences, just because of
money, something which should have been a cause for mourning became a cause of
war.
His uncle, who he loved, tried to have him killed, by a
local goon, because he was the next heir to his father, and his demise would
cause them huge grievances. The aunty, who had fed him food with her own hands,
became the first one to turn her back on his face in public places. His cousin
sister, who had loved more than his own, wouldn't even say hi to him.
He couldn't bear all this. So he ran away from that place,
in the place where they all had their best memories, his grandfather, his
father, his uncle, his sister and his cousin sister. He recalled everything, he
would first smile, then cry and then would go blank, because he thought that
all good things must come to an end.
Someone passing him by saw his state, his wet cheeks, and
shouted,"What happened, brother? Are you okay?"
"Life happened…."
