Isn’t it pointless?

Sitting by the table, Raj was playing with toothpicks. His friend happened to be sitting there as well, he noticed that, he saw, that he wasn't doing anything special with them, just taking them out and putting them in, randomly, he retaliated by telling him,"Raj, what the hell are you doing?"
"Having fun, bro."
"Isn't it pointless?"
Looking at the point in question, isn't kind of everything we do pointless, or does everything we happen to do have a point?
Let's take a few examples along with Mr. Raj's, let's take up something which has a point, a job for instance, a person doing a shift 24X7 at a consulting firm. Now, the purpose of this job is to provide good clientele for the firm, that in turn helps him keep him job and provides him with a good incentive/bonus, now his job already gives him money, so now, his job is to earn money. Now, the question, why does he want money? Let's assume he does not have any family, this removes the assumptions that he has to settle down, or provide a good home and conditions for his wife, or secure his future as a good father or take care of his parents, we'll come back to that later.
So, now he earns money for himself, but why? Just so that, he can survive on a daily basis, he earns more money for luxuries, and/or showing off his luxuries or social status.
Now, luxuries don't really have a point so let's take them out of the picture.
Here comes the main point: SURViVAL. Now, to survive, we don't really need a job or money for that instance, we can just go into a jungle and survive on fruits, live in trees and drink from rivers, so isn't this job pointless?
Coming back to taking care of the family, if we all lived in jungles, and survived on fruits and slept in trees, we wouldn't really need these safeties and comforts. So all of this kind of becomes pointless.
What do you actually mean by pointless?
According to Oxford dictionary, pointless is defined as something which has little or no sense, use or purpose. This somehow means, that what we do if it does not have a satiable result, it is pointless.
So, doing a job right now, is pointless. Let's take up relationships for instance, as Valentine's Day is near, either you break up, either you marry or you stay together for a long time and then breakup. Now, the first and the last situations, are themselves self-explanatory of their own pointlessness. The second one however is interesting, you marry, you have kids and one day you die. Keep in mind, that when you die, the other people don't die with you, you die alone, so your kids and your wife and your marriage, pointless, obviously, of course, if you get divorced and I might get roufed for saying this, lol, it is also pointless. Leading to the next point, as we have to die some day or the other, our own very existence is pointless.
Now most people would argue with me about all of these situations, that no, we don't marry for taking someone with us, we marry to make our life worth living, so there we go, a point.
The people with the family to take care of will say, living in jungles is not a solution so, what we do has a very strong point.
And, the last, the one who does his job for himself will say, what he does produces a very satiable result for him or almost satiable, or will maybe someday, so this also has a point.
Confused? Earlier, we thought everything is pointless, now we are thinking these things mentioned above have a point?
All the time in this world, we have at least two views to look at a situation, more suitably described by the glass half full or empty situation.
Now, you might say, but playing with toothpicks doesn't really have a point, the half glass theory fall flat on the floor in this case, to this Raj will reply.
"My friend, it is not pointless, this little dilly-dallying with the toothpicks, helps relieve my stress, anxiety, makes me feel better, lets me have fun and lets me have a better take on life itself."
Well, I don't know how better to point out the satiable purpose of this so-called 'pointless' activity.
So from now on, you can see the world in two ways:
  1. Everything is pointless, there's no purpose to anything in this world.
  2. Everything has a point, whatever is being done, had been done or is about to happen, all plays an important role in this universe.
CIAO!
